Under the theme of “East Asian Body Circle”, the 2024 Macau International Live Art Festival brings together artists from various countries and regions in East Asia, and through a variety of performances and interactions, it demonstrates the artists’ deep understanding and expression of society, culture and emotion. As practitioners and observers of performance art, artists Deng Shangdong and Li Aixiao have participated in the creation of this Macau International Live Art Festival. The two artists will give an overview of the Macau International Live Art Festival, and share their own live creations and observations of the festival.
Li Aixiao
Aishao Li lives and works in Chengdu, China. Based on her educational background in Journalism and Applied Psychology, she creates ongoing work through photography, performance, and text.

Aixiao Lee and Her 100 Photographs, 2019
Aixiao Lee invited 100 subjects from her 2013-2019 photographic project Personal Objects back to respond to the central question of the project, “What is your most important personal object? In response to the central question of the project, “What is your most important personal object?
If Sisyphus Were in 2022, 2022
At the beginning of 2022, Aisho Lee collected her naturally shedding hair from her starting and living environment. Until December 31st, she collected 31.348 grams, about 70,130 hairs. At the same time, she collects global social events that have attracted a lot of attention during the year. At the event, Lee asked the audience to put on a blindfold to listen to the events of the year, while she made a ball of hair from the collected hair. When the audience removes the blindfold, she places the ball of hair in a transparent Alexandra dust box for display.
Fish of the River, 2023
In a stagnant pond in the center of the Yangtze River bed, Li Aishao tumbled back into the river with all his might like a fish, taking 53 minutes and more than 1 kilometer. With this act, she pays close attention to the ecological problem of the drying up of the Yangtze River, as well as thinking about her own situation at the moment.
Deng Shangdong
Deng Shangdong is the initiator of the Ruins Live Art Festival and the curator of the Fire Performance Art Festival. His work focuses on personal emotional experience, and combines the reality of the situation with personal experience. His main creative methods are performance art, video, photography, illustration, sculpture and installation. Focusing on the subculture of young people’s living condition, his works present the real view of young people’s body nowadays. Currently lives and works in Chengdu.

Process: reading the names of the dead of the epidemic, spitting black toner.

process: stepping on an ant’s nest and feeling the ulceration of the feet.
