As an artist who mainly creates sculptures, Chen Weicai has been trying to use different media to create sculptures and thinking about what sculpture is. In the past, sculpture was seen as a container of form, encapsulating ideas and meanings within the physical outline of the material. Today, from shaping materials to exploring forms to exploring the material itself to the collection of people and materials, processes, concepts, scenes, etc., including a close connection with behavior. This sharing mainly starts from the thinking of the action itself in the personal sculpture process and related works, as well as how to think about behavior in creation and other artistic media.

Duckweed plants, water, papertape, markers, Various borrowed containers 2023
The artist borrowed containers used in daily office life from the companies, businesses, tenants, property managers, visitors, audiences, and individuals in Xiangxingpu Building, labeling each with information about its owner, such as identity, floor, location, and occupation. The artist then collected duckweed from paddy fields and ponds, keeping it in these containers, which were displayed together in the exhibition space. Two months later, when the exhibition ended, some containers had completely lost their duckweed, while others retained only a few fragments. Upon returning the containers, some owners had already left their jobs, and some had even moved away from the city.
